When it comes to pets, I really love dogs. There are basically five dogs inside my house and all of them are well taken care of. I have been raising them all for quite some time now and I think it wouldn’t be fair for the others, but of all the dogs that I have, my Siberian husky, Bruce is the one that I really love the most. Of all my dogs, he is the one with the best features. He is big boned, highly obedient and very energetic, plus the fact that I got him for free. He was given to me by my Russian friend when he was still a puppy. Speaking of Russia, I have been seeing a lot of ads lately about a top-gun adventure that the Russia tourism board is currently pushing for. I guess with all the economical dilemmas that they have been getting for the last few years; they really have to do something different so people from all parts of the world would start visiting the country so they could come up with enough dollars to make their Rouble strong. They even let people fly mig jets now when before, only a member of the Soviet army can even touch it…

As an animal lover, it always amazed me seeing dog walkers when I was young and dreamt that someday I will have that experience as well. I didn’t even knew then that it is one way to earn money by walking the dogs of some people and thought it was all just a hobby. I was on my third Euro trip when I stopped by Dog Walking London shop where they offer this kind of service. I observe how they work with this kind of job and realize that it was more than just holding tight on a leash and giving them (dogs) their early needed exercise. Now I’m thinking that I can do this kind of business during my free time since I know that some people in our area who owns a dog are too busy to give their canines a walk. If your pet especially for a cat or dog starting to lose their appetite which is their not usual habit, you have to start checking and consider other stuff that may result to this. Most of the time, your pet might be experiencing sickness or has something to do with their food, or maybe with their environment. Did you change your brand of dog food? This is a very common mistake of dog owners who switch dog brand from time to time. Remember that they are also like babies that cannot just switch from one brand of baby milk to another. Aside from that, some dogs have their favourite spot where they want to eat to protect their food from others. Observe their eyes if it’s yellowish or looking dull, check their stool which may be because of a dog diarrhea which is very common to dogs that chews or eat almost everything. Check the color of their skin, pull their fur if it feels like they are dehydrated or not, their nose if dry or too wet that they might have fever or cold.

There are lots of things to consider when this signs occur. But remember, once your pet started to show their lack of appetite; don’t let it run for 2 or more days. Observe your pet and better if you consult their veterinarian right away for immediate remedy.

More and more people are settling to buying their own car, although they are much more pricy than the usual public commute services. Toy dogs usually refer to dogs of small size, like poodles and Shih Tzu. They were referred to as toy dogs because they are usually carried along by their masters like stuff toys because of their cute sizes, even in the most of their adulthood they remain in that size.

Grooming Poodles and other types of toy dogs is much like grooming a full scale dog. Though you don’t brush that much hair with toy dogs they require much more attention, because they are usually more playful and active. Maintenance with toy dogs is not as much as like with big dogs like German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers and such. One of my dream dogs is a Siberian husky and thank God for my loving fiancé and my dad who made this dream come true. Last April of 2008, I was given a Siberian husky puppy by my partner that he bought from a dog breeder and named him Sawyer (after my favourite TV series LOST). He was this shy puppy who has a scary feature but in fact he is the opposite of how he looks like. He is the sweetest, playful dog ever. I took care of him when he was at his 3rd month and he already separated from his mom and his siblings. It was hard for me the first time because I have to choose the right diet for him that he couldn’t get from his mom anymore. I bought him some milk and experimented with dog foods. I tried Science Diet small bites for puppies and as per his vet he is responding well with his food because of his healthy coat and good bone structure. It was really hard to feed him! I swear! At first I have to let him eat the food dry then after few bites he will stop then I have to soften it with a water, then after few bites he will leave it again then I have to pour some milk in it and he loves it. Then after a few days he doesn’t like the food with milk anymore so I have to think of something else again and that’s to add a little meat in his food and he loves it! His favourite is chicken and it is literally a spoon feeding habit for us every time he takes his meal but I consider it as our bonding moment as well.

Aside from choosing the right diet for him, for the first months I got him, I have to make sure that he got his complete vaccine from anti rabies, anti leptospirosis, booster shots and more. I also let him enjoy other activities since one of the traits of a SH is that they are very active. He has his time to play with other dogs and run over the fields. There was a time we let him join a fun dog show where he won 2nd runner up for his best costume.

I really had so much fun taking care of Sawyer. Then one weekend while I was out, I received a message that my Sawyer got lost. I rushed back home to search for him in our area but to my dismay, I truly have lost him. I have posted posters and banners of his pictures, gave reward, and announced it at the radio but no one gave any information aside from those prank callers. I missed Sawyer up to now, I don’t know where he is but I hope whoever found him will really take care of him and let him. I have also read somewhere that Siberian Huskies are great escape and will find a way to run wherever they want regardless of the danger of cars, strangers, etc.

I was crying days, weeks and even this time I’m thinking about him. My dad knew how sad I was for losing for him so he bought me a new one! Yey! We went back to Siberian husky breeder where boyfriend got Sawyer and bought my new baby Slash. Another male husky for me. Not that I will totally forget about Sawyer but at least I can give the care I wanted my sawyer to have to his little brother Slash.

Just a little advice…don’t let your dogs alone in an open area or if you will be leaving for work or wherever, make sure they are locked up if they are as playful as my Sawyer.

We all know the signs if a woman are pregnant or not. After the day they contact, we just have to wait if there will be a regular period following a month, the feeling of nausea which will force you to vomit, the bloating of the lower part of your stomach, gaining weight and more. But what signs do we have for dogs? After my dog, which was a Golden Retriever (Belle rip) was stud to another same bred male dog just in time after her period, we all assumed that she’s conceiving because she gained weight and got a bloated tummy. But we are wrong. In the same scenario but this time with a mongrel, in time days after her period she was positive to be carrying puppies.

This is the second time our dog (chuchay) gave birth. The first time was untimely and she was just 8 months, to immature to handle case like this so the outcome was the babies were immature and didn’t survive and chuchay even ate some of the parts. But this second time was a success, after almost 60 days. Chuchay got 1 dozen of healthy puppies from their father who is a Siberian Husky. Yes, 12 puppies!

That night when she’s starting to whelp she was so irritated and can’t stay in one place. We got all the rugs and used dirt blanket for thee babies to arrive. And there they are. You have to make sure that they will get their first meal from their mom. You may call in your vet and bring the mom and her puppies to vet to check their health including the mom’s. Expect now that chuchay will be producing some brownish odourless discharge.

Have a safe pregnancy to all your dogs.

I am currently having some problems in the apartment that I am living in… the super keeps on nagging about my dog because he said she is always leaving furs on his door and he said he always have to clean it up whenever he leaves his room. While that is true and my dog is a little bit guilty about it, it was also the super who said the first time that I had my dog when it was still a puppy that we could always bring in some pets and he doesn’t have a problem with four legged animals because he loves seeing “those little critters running around”.

Now, all of a sudden, he changed his tone, when the fact is, it is quite normal for my dog to shed fur because she is a shedder type. Even though I try buying the best shampoos, there is no way to keep a chow from shedding every now and then. I am currently looking for some possibilities of moving to the Asheville private community and get my own place. I just can’t stand all the naggings anymore and I already contacted some agents for a real estate in Asheville.

I don’t know but for some reason, I can’t seem to get enough of mongrel or mixed breed of dogs, when the fact is, it is not exactly the best breed of dogs there is on the planet. What fascinated me most specifically are the ones coming from the Philippines, the ones that they call Askal, or in a more politically correct term, Aspin. What got my attention here is that no matter how many studies were conducted, there is no way to know the mother breed of this type of dog, and I’m talking about only one dog here… the origin is really blurry that no science can determine its ancestors and every single Aspin has its own characteristics that can be found in all other breeds. I guess if there would be a generic breed, Aspin would be it. Another interesting fact… even though the breed came from all different kinds of breeds, there is a very distinct behavior among all Aspin dogs, and that is its loyalty to its owner. Studies show that this is the most loyal companion that you can ever find, more loyal than a Labrador retriever and an American Pit Bull Terrier combined. This is also the breed that doesn’t know how to complain. One thing I’ve noticed is its ability to look for its own food, unlike with the pure breeds that would get your attention or bark very loudly whenever it gets hungry or thirsty. An Aspin would not do such ruckus, instead would do something about its predicament instead of disturbing the peace of its master. It is basically something that will never be evident to any pure bred or half bred dogs.

Last time I heard, they are actually being trained nowadays to become K9 units since they are low maintenance (would actually eat anything) and doesn’t require too much attention because, as I have mentioned above, of its high level of loyalty to its owner.
